Kindness and Respect Matter

Creating seamless and personalized recruitment experiences

If there is one mutual resounding purpose among the employees of the technology staffing organization Jobot, it is changing lives through innovative practices. Founded by Heidi Golledge in 2018 in Newport Beach, California, Jobot’s mission is to leverage advanced technology to place effective matches while fostering successful careers beyond the initial hire.

With more than 700 regional employees, Jobot has prided itself on loyalty throughout its six years in business. And its success has spread like wildfire. Besides earning an SIA Best Staffing Firms to Work For accolade, it was nominated in 2023 as Fortune’s No. 1 Workplace for Millennials. It is also a three-time No. 1 recipient of Orange County’s Top Workplace and a Top Workplace for Parents, according to Great Place To Work Institute.

Perfect Balance

Jobot also holds a Great Place to Work certification with a 98% employee rating; at the typical US company, 57% of employees say their employer is a great place to work. So it is unsurprising that Jobot has maintained a reputation for making its employees feel like family. “[Our CEO] has brought the perfect balance of work hard, play hard to Jobot — and she prioritizes family time, time to yourself and time to travel,” says Executive Manager Audrey Block, adding that since joining the company two years ago, she has found Jobot puts family at the forefront of everything it does. “For experienced recruiters, this model is the ultimate setup, as it allows us to be productive and still live our lives to the fullest,” she explains.

Going above and beyond is engrained into Jobot’s purpose. This comes in several facets — but especially in the care and consideration of its employees. In Block’s second month of work, her life was upended by some personal matters. “My entire Jobot family was extremely supportive of me and patient while I started my new role,” Block says. “I was navigating a lot in my personal life and needed time. Because of this support and flexibility, I was able to adapt quickly to these life changes and came back stronger than ever with my best sales quarter to this day.”

Block’s story not only exemplifies the value and respect Jobot has for its employees but is a testament to its core value of treating its employees as human beings first.

Disrupting the Recruiting and Staffing Space

When it comes to innovation, Jobot has found itself on the cutting edge of technology advancements. Utilizing the power of artificial technology, the organization launched its own branded recruiting platform called Jobot Automated Experience, or “JAX” for short. The platform is able to write better job descriptions, find and sort candidates within seconds, review résumés and set up interviews.

“I love that we are always making adjustments to JAX to find the best candidates within all of our industries,” Block says. Throughout her five and a half years in staffing, Block has seen her fair share of technology within the ecosystem and finds JAX makes the recruitment process seamless. “We want to work with the best candidates and clients nationwide, and when we combine the human connection to advanced technology, magic happens!”

However, Jobot is not relying on technology alone. It is blending experienced recruiters, or Jobot Pros, with its technology to create a trailblazing job matching experience. “Jobot (is) the most cutting-edge permanent-first agency I could find,” says Executive Manager Joshua Tacke, who joined the organization in 2022.

Everyone Deserves a Good Job

Leadership can make or break a business, and Jobot recognizes that there is never a one-size-fits-all approach to managing people. Although its approach can seem unconventional, it has led to more engaged and happier employees.

“I think we have a unique team of leaders that all bring something different to the table, which makes us a better organization,” Block explains. “We have flexibility on how we manage, and I believe that everyone needs something different; it’s our job as managers to recognize that and give our employees what they need to be successful, whether it’s strategy conversations or listening in on calls.”

The benefits are a tailored approach to employee’s career goals, with an astounding 98% of employees agreeing that management at Jobot is competent at running the business. “My direct manager is heavily invested and passionate about my professional growth in a non-corporate way, but in a pragmatic and concrete way,” Tacke shares. “Our VP is a kind person and leader who excels as a clear communicator among our peers.”

One and a half years ago, Tacke joined Jobot after spending more than five years in more structured staffing organizations. He has found that the Jobot leadership has been one of his biggest reasons to love the company, stating, “My leadership is hands off, encouraging and good to me while giving me the ability to grow my business at an expedited rate.”

The Future Looks Bright

Jobot sees 2024 as the year of continued value: of their employees, the work they do and the lives they are changing. Whether this is through its continued hybrid work flexibility program or a culture built on respect and kindness, this staffing powerhouse knows the importance of demonstrating that value to its people. As Block states, “I have never felt more valued in my career than I do here.”
